Lauritz van Luijk
Hi there! I am a researcher working in quantum information theory, mathemcatical physics, and operator algebras. I work as a postdoc at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Institute for Quantum Computing in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
I completed my PhD in 2025 at Leibniz University Hannover under the supervision of Reinhard F. Werner.
Currently my main research interest is in understanding connections between quantum information theory, especially entanglement theory, and abstract mathematical structures in von Neumann algebras. This has direct physical implications for quantum systems with unboundedly many degrees of freedom like quantum many-body systems in the thermodynamic limit, or quantum field theory. My close collaborators on this program are Alexander Stottmeister and Henrik Wilming. My PhD thesis focused on the entanglement side of this program, with Alex and Henrik effectively acting as co-supervisors. You can read more about this and other topics I work on my research page.
